Message About Health Concerns

3/13/2020

Dear Prairie Bible Church family,

You may be wondering what proactive steps Prairie Bible is taking, and what you can do, in light of the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 strain. Allow me to start by answering the question that is probably on your mind when it comes to church:

UPDATE: Due to the closing of Prairie Hill Elementary for spring break
WE WILL NOT MEET FOR WORSHIP ON SUNDAY, MARCH 22.

The Prairie Bible website will be updated if any activities will be cancelled.  With that said, while there is growing uncertainty in our world, our God is in control and His perfect love drives out fear. Our best response as Christ followers will balance wisdom, love, and prayer.

First, we encourage you to pray. Pray for healing of those who are affected, for protection and peace for those living in anxiety, and for government agencies and healthcare professionals who are hard at work in prevention and care.

Second, Prairie Bible Church is taking practical steps beginning at the front door.  We've asked our greeters not to shake hands or give hugs.  We ask that each one of you refrain from shaking hands and other contact.  We will have adequate hand sanitizer available as well. We will not be offering any food or beverages in our fellowship area for now. Finally, we will not be offering nursery services at this time.

Third, there are practical things we can do as individuals. It is okay if you choose to stay home from any Prairie Bible activity. We will make our worship services available for your viewing on our website and podcast.
PRAIRIE BIBLE CHURCH YOUTUBE CHANNEL LINK

In addition:
·         If you or anyone in your household has flu-like symptoms or has a compromised immune system, please stay home and worship with us online. You can access our service via our via the Prairie Bible website at prairiebible.org
·         Let us know right away if you test positive for the virus and have been to church activities
Here are some resources that might help you learn more about this virus:
·         Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: General info and how to protect yourself
·         Iowa Department of Public Health  Iowa - COVID 19
This is a rapidly changing situation and we will continue to keep you posted on any changes or updates to these plans.

Finally, in times of uncertainty I’ve always found Psalm 46 to be comforting:  God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46:1–3)
